I traveled today (9/4/2023) on Delta. I made my tree nut allergy known to every point of contact before sitting in my seat. The pilot even made an announcement.
When the refreshment cart came around, they served almonds to everyone and made it a point to say I was the nut allergy person, and I couldn’t have them. When I asked why they were serving nuts after I was told they wouldn’t, I was embarrassed and talked down to by not one but four flight attendants.
I still cannot believe that they had someone meet me at door of the aircraft to specifically tell me I am flying at my own risk for my connecting flight. The flight attendant said to me, “Flying is public transportation and if it is not safe for me, I shouldn’t fly, or hire a private jet.” HIs exact words!! Flight attendant also said people like me shouldn’t consider flying at all because it’s a danger to me and not fair to the other passengers. Not fair because they cannot have a particular snack. Would they say this to someone with a visible disability who needs extra assistance to fly safely?I’m at a loss…
