We recently flew to Phoenix. I flew Delta one way and American for the return trip. Delta did a GREAT job! I called them a few weeks ago and told them about my 2 children with nut allergies (one peanut and the other peanut/tree nut). They were wonderful over the phone and told me I would be able to pre-board and no nuts would be served. And that is exactly what happened.
On the day of travel, we pre-boarded with no problems at all (the gate agent was super nice!). They made an announcement that there were nut allergies on board and no nuts would be served. The man next to me asked the flight attendant for mixed nuts and she informed him of the allergy on board and that no nuts were being served (I then told them it was us).
On our return flight, we flew American. Due to the recent issues with American not allowing pre-boarding and some even being kicked off the flight, I admit I was too nervous to inform them of our allergy. Even thought nothing happened on the flight. my children were scared to fly with them. We shouldn’t feel that way about flying! A big thanks to Delta and will fly with them again…American…probably not
