We hadn’t flown since we found out our son was allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, but after seeing some good reports on EasyJet we thought we’d take the plunge.
We flew to Rome from the UK so not a long flight but we were still understandably nervous having not done it before. With EasyJet, we were able to put the nut allergies on the booking and our son was marked as a special assistance passenger, which was reassuring.
I knew from others’ experience, that we would have to state it both at the gate and on the flight as well and that was certainly the case. It was the cabin crew who really were the most important to tell – but each person was understanding, and calm. An announcement was made and nut snacks weren’t served on either flight.
I will be commenting to EasyJet though on whether they may think about preparing a statement in the language of the country they are traveling to/from as well as in English – on the way back we were surrounded by young Italian students who I’m sure didn’t understand the announcement re nut.
