Recently I took a couple of trips with Norwegian Airlines. I waited to submit this testimonial because I wanted to make sure their policy was not just a coincidence, i.e. did I just luckily get an understanding crew.
My son has multiple food allergies, including tree nuts. I informed the crew when we boarded the flight and they consequently made an announcement and did not serve nuts. They do not serve peanuts in general.
During one of those flights, I heard at least three or four people in my vicinity asking for nuts and the crew firmly explained that it was not possible because there was one passenger with allergies. It was reassuring to hear and see their response, because if they sold them, they would have made a profit, but in the interest of my son’s well being and safety, they said no.
In addition, during one of the flights, one of the flight attendants shared she was allergic to tree nuts, so she said she completely understood the problem. Clearly that also helps, to have personal empathy towards those flying with food allergies.
