My new husband and I were flying Delta (9/8/2019) from Rochester to Bermuda on our Honeymoon. I called the airline ahead of time to let them know of my TREE NUT allergy. I also let them know at the ticket counter on the day we arrived and again reminded staff that they told me at the ticket counter the flight attendants were told not to serve tree nuts.
I boarded and as the flight attendant went by our seats, I asked if she was told about my allergy and she told me she did not know, but won’t serve PEANUTS. I then clarified that it was Tree Nuts and she said ok, fine…
About 40 minutes later I had dozed off and woke up with the snack cart going by serving ALMONDS!!!! We are now over the Atlantic Ocean with half a plane opening and chomping and breathing almond dust/particles. My eyes and lips started to swell and I had a panic attack. I had to stand in the very back of the plane with my sweatshirt over my face. It is not like you can get fresh air and open a window on an airline. I was very upset!!!
The SAME exact thing happened on our way home with Delta!!! I informed every Delta employee I could. They made an announcement over the speaker, “We would like to inform everyone we have a peanut allergy on board, so please be courteous and refrain from eating peanut products.” I called the flight attendant to my seat and said again its TREE NUTS !!!! she said what’s the difference??? We will serve almonds but no peanuts….OMG!!!!!! I said I’m deathly allergic to tree nuts, ex. Almonds, cashews, pecans etc…. I will gladly buy every person on board anything they want but why do you still serve NUTS on airplanes !!!!! I hope every single airline reads this !!!!!!! I have photos of my swollen eyes and lips while on board too!!! 🙁
