I am very disappointed with the service that both myself and my daughter received on Qatar Airways.
My daughter has a severe nut allergy. I was simply shocked that I had to explain to several flight attendants and then a manager how having a food allergy affects my child. I had wrongly assumed that airlines would train staff about allergies.
The manager on our flight was extremely rude and approached looking me right in my face and told me to ‘disembark’ if I did not feel safe as they had to serve nuts. He went on to say. if someone in Business Class asked for them that they must serve them.
It would take a lot of assurance for me to use Qatar Airways again, as I felt my daughter’s life was less important than people being able to eat their nuts. On the flight back from Cape Town to Doha when a passenger consumed peanuts behind us, there was nothing we could do about it. My daughter was forced to cover herself with a blanket the entire flight and to wear two face masks. She did not consume anything for 8 hours. I am very disappointed and scarred.
