I want to share our most recent travel with Air Canada. My five year old daughter has a peanut allergy and we recently (Sept. 2017) traveled from Chicago – to Toronto – to Shanghai.
I was super nervous about the 13 hour leg from Toronto to Shanghai section of our flight. I spoke to customer service at the time that I booked my tickets. The lady on the phone assured me that they don’t serve peanut products and in addition would create buffer zone for us.
The day we traveled, at O’hare, the gate attendant upgraded us to premium seats with empty seats around us. We also boarded before everyone (pre-board). I was very pleased. Then in Toronto, our daughters name was called and once again we were the first to board.
Mid flight I smelled strong peanut and couldn’t tell who was eating peanut around us. We were somewhere over the North Pole and I got very nervous. I talked to the flight attendant and she with another flight attendant who spoke Chinese walked around the area and spoke to every passenger to find out who was eating peanut. Once again, my husband and I are surprisingly satisfied with their service and would highly recommend them. Our flights were successful!
