Before travelling to India, I contacted our booking agency (as I normally do) to inform them of my severe nut allergy. On the day of travel 4/16/2023, my boyfriend and I boarded our flight on IndiGo from Delhi to return to Heathrow via Istanbul.
As I have always done with no issues upon entering a plane, I spoke to flight attendant and to remind them of my allergy. This flight attendant responded by saying they will be serving nuts on this flight as a snack. I tried to explain that because of my allergy, I would be at risk of having a serve allergic reaction. We were then told to sit down, and someone will come and speak with us
An hour later (flight now delayed) a member of IndiGo airline requested they would like to speak to myself and my boyfriend. We were then told by the head of cabin crew that they would not allow us to fly, and they would organize a new safe flight. As we were politely reassured, they would solve this issue we were left feeling positive. We were then escorted off the plane
Shortly after we disembarked the plane, we were told that it was my fault I had a nut allergy
The staff member explained they would be putting us on the same flight the next day where they would also sell nuts. The staff member was incredibly rude and described how it was my personal fault I made the flight late. It was my personal fault for having a nut allergy
IndiGo then refused to book us onto a new safe flight which left us with no option but to buy two new flights to return to London with a different airline. We were stuck at Delhi Airport with no help or support.
