Note from Lianne (NoNutTraveler)- This is indeed a wonderful testimonial but I must caution that it is still my advice to never accept airline meals when flying with food allergies. Mistakes happen, recalls happen, up in the air not the time to find out.
TESTIMONIAL:
I have an anaphylactic allergy to all nuts, especially peanuts, and have been so since I was six months old (32 years old now). My parents had always spoken very highly of British Airways and them dealing well with my food allergies when I was little. We used to travel with them from Canada to visit my grandparents in England.
I flew from Gatwick to Edinburgh on 16 September/2019. I notified BA about my allergies. They didn’t bat an eyelid, you could instantly tell they took this seriously. I checked in when we got our gate and they immediately knew who I was, where I was sitting and I was then promptly ushered to a separate waiting area.
I was allowed to preboard, wipe down my seat and table. The flight attendants, without looking at any paperwork, knew every food item I was not allowed, which ones had warnings and more. An announcement was made, in such a discrete manner, I wasn’t embarrassed. I couldn’t thank them enough! British Airways has my service for life now.
