I have flown with multiple airlines before and have always been too scared of being thrown off a flight to approach staff about my severe peanut allergy. I was pleased to discover when I flew with Easyjet that their online ticket booking system now offers an option to alert them if you have a nut allergy. When I boarded the plane, a flight attendant asked if I was the person who had an allergy, and an announcement was given asking passengers to refrain from eating nuts without identifying where I was sitting, which I was pleased with.
