This is a note from Lianne- As the testimonial below indicates Delta has updated their policy -https://www.delta.com/us/en/accessible-travel-services/dietary-needs-and-allergies – it does in fact have a separate peanut allergy policy -making allowance for peanuts in writing and NOT anything specific for tree nuts or other allergies- leaving it up to the crew. This is unacceptable and why we continue to advocate.
Testimonial:
3/15/2022- I am a 35 y/o anaphylactic tree nut allergy sufferer. I have been flying my whole life, seen the good the bad and the ugly. Have relied on Delta for years but today on a flight from New York City to Atlanta, I discovered that earlier this month Delta had decided to change its policy on tree nut allergies.
This had previously been a bit of a grey area in my experience. Delta’s announcement policy in writing specifies peanut allergy but I had always encountered sympathetic cabin crew who understood there’s really no difference between peanuts and pistachios in so for far as allergy therefore they had historically applied the same approach for me. I am talking approximately 150+ flights.
Now I’m going to have to find a new airline as their new policy is to only not serve nuts IN YOUR ROW which is a total waste of time if the people in front and behind you are being handed nuts and they’re not doing announcements any more.
Sad day for me and many others who have relied on Delta on this issue.
