Heartfelt thanks to Qatar Airways for a very good experience on our flight from New Delhi, India to New York via Doha. My 6 year old has severe allergies to most of the nuts and I was very apprehensive flying such long distance with her. I spoke to Qatar Airways few weeks prior to the flight and they made me fill “Meda” form plus several other indemnity forms.
They asked for a fit to fly certificate from the doctor. It took a lot of back and forth with forms and to explain the exact severity of her allergies. But in the end it was worthwhile as when we boarded the plane, the crew knew exactly what was to be done, they assured us that they won’t serve any nuts on the plane, although they usually do. They announced several times that other passengers should refrain from opening any nut packages that they might be carrying in the flight. They had special nut free meals for her as well.
We also got nice front row seating so that she has less chances of getting stuck between rows with people eating various kinds of food. The airline understood our situation and made us as comfortable as they could. Air hostesses were very kind and checked several times on how she was doing. We did carry two Epipens and anti-allergic medicines with us, just in case. So for parents who share our situation you should definitely talk to the airlines beforehand so that all care can be taken and choose Qatar Airways for your trips whenever you can! #QatarAirways.
