I was incredulous that the American Airlines flight attendant asked if I could pre-medicate, since they would be serving my allergen. You cannot just use an epinephrine auto-injector prophylactically- so much education and empathy training is needed.

American Airlines values nuts over food allergy passenger!

On 3/24/23 I informed American Airlines that I have a severe allergy to tree nuts. I was allowed to pre-board but was told they weren’t ‘allowed’ to make an announcement to inform those around me of the allergy.

I was further informed that they would be serving mixed nuts in business class and there “was nothing they could do about it”.  I answered back that yes, there certainly was- that they were making a conscious choice to put my safety in danger in order to serve a snack on a 1.5 hour flight. I was incredulous that the flight attendant then asked if I could pre-medicate, which further shows their ignorance when it comes to food allergies.
