I just wanted to share a recent positive experience that we had traveling abroad with my peanut/tree nut allergic son. We just got back from a vacation in London and we flew British Airways. They were beyond amazing!
It started when they allowed all 4 of us to preboard so we could wipe down all of the seats – in the US we usually can only have one parent pre-board. Once on board, the flight attendant asked my son some questions about his allergies, and also asked us if we had an epipen and safe snacks. She kept his boarding pass so she would know exactly which seat he was in.
This was an overnight flight so we weren’t planning on eating much anyway, but she suggested he avoid the meals because they may contain nuts. On the flight back home, we again experienced the same level of attentiveness. This time we were flying all day and they went above and beyond with the meal service. Since he couldn’t eat the meal, they brought my son packaged cheese and crackers (labeled with ingredients) and several plates of fresh fruit without us asking. It was truly remarkable and made our first flight overseas much more relaxing. I highly recommend British Airways!
