October 26, 2026. I was traveling on United Airlines from Eugene to Newark, connecting through Denver, when the man seated behind me began experiencing difficulty breathing following a peanut exposure.
I could hear his wife becoming increasingly upset and unsure what to do. They had accidentally packed away his EpiPen in their luggage.
Because my daughter has severe food allergies, I had an EpiPen in my bag. I was able to administer the injection to him.
It seemed that there was no auto-injector available on the plane, and in my opinion the flight attendant seemed unsure of the protocol for responding to an anaphylaxis emergency.
