Given our previous negative experiences my expectations were low flying with Delta with my child’s nut allergy. We checked the box when booking our tickets that my child had a peanut allergy but I’d never seen that before so I wasn’t sure what that would even do.
We were running late so I missed the opportunity to pre-board so I can’t speak to that. Once seated, however, a flight attendant stopped at our row to confirm any and all allergies and to review all snacks served in the main cabin to make sure they were safe. She then stated she had no issues removing everything my 6 year old was allergic to despite the popularity of a certain lemon cookie.
Then to my surprise an announcement was made to all passengers to please refrain from opening any peanut / tree-nut snacks in order to keep all passengers safe. Again, we did not ask for any of this or request it because of previous flights on Delta (between 2017 – 2019) where we were told no accommodations would be made and we should have our EpiPens handy. So to the Delta crew on flight 1470 from PHX – SEA at 11am on 3/27….I wish I could have hugged all of you.
