We recently traveled to Brazil from Ireland. We are Brazilians living in Europe and after two years without seeing our family because of the pandemic, the time had come to travel.
We researched several companies for the safety of my daughter who has peanut allergies. We chose SWISS because they do not serve peanuts on flights and also because they are certified as an allergy friendly company.
Days before our trip we made contact with the customer service and to our surprise they didn’t know what we were talking about. On the day of the trip, nobody knew what we were talking about either. We requested prior boarding, it was denied. We asked for announcement regarding her allergies, they refused.
During the in-flight service, the food meal was offered to my daughter even though I had informed the crews that she would not consume anything on the plane. It was a tense, worrying 11-hours trip. The same situation happened during SWISS connecting flights. Fortunately, my daughter traveled without any problems and we arrived at our destination safely. I do not recommend SWISS for those who have allergies mainly to tree nuts, as they serve chocolates and foods that contain tree nuts.
